The Manufacturing & Process Development Engineer designs and develops manufacturing processes and procedures for economical mass production of new products.
Target is to utilize and adapt emerging manufacturing base-technologies for the needs of Relay Manufacturing by executing economic projects for real-life mass-production and integrate and standardize them in the internal Relay Manufacturing Technology Platforming System.

Acts as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface.
Supports Product Development in the optimization designs and piece parts for manufacturability; realizes sample tooling, product samples and prototypes.
Designs, develops, and qualifies tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards.
Documents all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems (SAP, TLM).
Supports supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability.
Initiates and implements programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time.
Maintains and adheres to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.
Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develops an optimal mass-production Manufacturing Plan for LEANPD projects based on Relay's Process and Automation Platform, product concepts and marketing data.
Develops the overall technical base-data for product-cost- and investment-calculations and for cost comparison of different manufacturing variants and automation levels
Ensures proper use of processes in production equipment by Process-FMEA´s
Creates target specs for relay manufacturing equipment
Develops manufacturing processes for specific projects
Represents MDE in Core Teams for LeanPD projects (coordinator for MDE topics within Core Teams)
Acts as the key person for Manufacturing Technology in LeanPD Core Teams
Ensures new processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
Services, troubleshoots and solves new product-/new process-production problems
Develops and further extends the Relay Manufacturing Technology Process Platform
Benchmarking of existing processes
Standardization of existing processes and development of new relay production processes (= „Process Platforming“)
Ensures that products are designed for optimal manufacturability in cooperation with product development teams
Ensures proper use of platform processes in production equipment (assembly lines, machines, molds, dies,…) by creating equipment target-specs. and obligatory equipment concept- and design-approvals
Drives transformational Process Technology Projects
Manages sourcing and production of product models and samples for product development projects
Development of sample-production equipment
Win Know-How out of sample-production and transfer to mass-production planning
Leads and Manages assigned projects
Coordinates overall equipment execution for LEANPD projects
Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
Acts as a part time Core Team Leader for LEANPD projects
Prepares project schedules and project plans
Organizes and conducts regular project reviews, meetings and prepares meeting minutes
Ensures that all requested EHS Requirements and Regulations are maintained, fully understood and complied with
